Not So Distant Future Of Interactive TV Technology

Has anyone heard of this new technology being developed by a partnership between Sony and Cable Labs? It’s called Tru2Way and just based on the limited information I have been able to find it looks to be creating an interactive atmosphere on our TV almost like the internet. Perhaps even bringing the internet right to our TV as well. As their site states they are looking to create an interactive TV viewing experience the likes of which most people could only imagine.

The real beauty of this new technology is that it is being built into our incoming TVs as we speak. There are already some manufacturers that have some HDTV’s with the Tru2Way technology built into them already. This new service will give you direct access to all the features that the cable company will be offering to its customers. Services like pay per view events online program guides and on demand movies just to name a few. It will also enable the cable company to instantly make available any new services that it wishes to offer.

The future will employ predictable, bad logotypesWhat are some of the new features that are being worked on you may be wondering well here are few to get us started. Complete transactions with your TV remote or perhaps you would like to play a trivia game or answer some polls or even order your dinner for delivery to your house. Access to interactive entertainment that can be streamed live along with the show you happen to be watching at the time.

Let’s be honest here at some point they are the cable companies and the TV manufacturers are going to come together and find a way to deliver the internet and all its glory right to the TV. If all the stars should align correctly one day we will have a combined TV/Wiimote/Keyboard type of controller that will let us do it all from one simple TV/Monitor. I can see it in the not so distant future a TV remote that has a simple internet button on it like a channel button and the remote is like a Wii controller that when activated put a pointer up on the screen. Now that will be a sweet TV setup, don’t you think? What other features do you think they should combine into the TV?
