Does anyone remember the TV show debacle that was Emmy’s of 2008? You know that show that had five reality stars splitting the hosting duties. In case you did not see it, let me give you a quick review…. it sucked! For those of us that did watch it I feel your pain but hopefully if the latest rumor being reported by Variety is true than this year could see a quick turn around to a more positive direction.
According to the report CBS and the Academy of TV Arts and Sciences are working on contract negotiations for Neil Patrick Harris to take over the Emmy awards hosting duties. He has been very busy and quite successful this year with hosting awards shows. With more than positive reviews for his hosting duties at this past years Tony’s, TV Land and Writers Guild awards shows. Neil Patrick Harris has become the hot new awards host of choice and if the Variety reports are correct than we should be getting an official announcement quite soon.
Neil Patrick Harris has carved out quite a nice career for himself in the last few years starting all the way back with his days as Dr. Doogie Howser to his present stint as Barney Stinson on what is going to be the 5th season of “How I Met Your Mother”. The real boost to his career as far as most of his fans are concerned though comes from the cult status of his “character” (plays himself!) in the Harold and Kumar movies. If you have not seen these movies than do yourself a favor for the holiday weekend and rent those movies, they are classic!
