Internet And TV One Digital Signal Closer To Becoming One

Lots of changes going on in the the land of TV. The technology for TV for example is getting a major upgrade this year as our TV signals are going all digital this year. All the TV stations were originally going to be all digital by this day in the original plan. They got a last second reprieve on the deadline being enforced by the government as the date was pushed back to June 12th. So it’s a slower change that what we were expecting although there were a little over 400 television stations that did go ahead with the switch to an all digital signal.

This could possibly be the beginning of the end of TV as we know it. With the new capabilities of having a digital signal we may see the eventual joining of the internet and TV to become one all encompassing signal. We will be able to switch back and forth between TV and internet right on our televisions.

Internet companies like Yahoo are already working on applications to bring the internet and TV signal together on a television set that you may already have in your home. All the big name TV manufacturers like Sony, Samsung and Toshiba are already putting out HD TVs with internet capabilities already built in.

Let’s face it over the last decade the amount of TV that people actually watch on their TV has been loosing the battle to the internet. More people than ever are logging into the internet to watch their favorite shows on demand or just getting their fix for home entertainment from sites like Youtube.

So this move to an all digital signal has been something that I am sure the big wigs in TV land have been wanting for a very long time. This will now give them the ability to pull people away from their computer screens and back in front of the TV screen. We are going to see a blending of the internet and Hollywood produced entertainment in the coming years. Companies will be able to put “TV widgets” up on your screen to bring interactivity with your favorite TV shows to a whole new level.

Just imagine the software possibilities that are out there waiting to be invented. As fast as the internet has grown just over the last 5 years now you add in the media capabilities of Hollywood and this will most certainly be the next step in at home entertainment.
